Can you really trust everything you see with your own eyes? As optical engineers, students will investigate the properties of light, including reflection, transmission and absorption. They will explore how these properties explain how we see things in color but also how they can lead to some unexpected phenomena. Students will construct a desktop theater, manipulate the transmission and reflection of light to project ghostly images. Additional experiments demonstrate the additive properties of light, and how light absorption or transmission can be used to uncover hidden messages. There is much more to light than meets the eye!
