As geomorphologists (scientists who study geological changes to the Earth’s surface), students discover the interplay between the rock and water cycles and how processes relate to weathering and erosion. Students perform experiments that mimic mechanical weathering, chemical weathering, and erosion. These processes are discussed in relation to the path carved by the Colorado River from the Rockies, to the Grand Canyon, to the Pacific Ocean. (MS-ESS2-1, MS-ESS2-4, MS-ESS3-1)
